I’m really excited to be featuring ToBeTattooed for LisbonSky’s latest featured giveaway. I love tattoo art’s distinct style and this store doesn’t disappoint! Here Lola tells us more about herself…

Q1: How did you find your calling in tattoo art?
Until recently I never thought I would ever call myself an artist – ever. After years of trying to force myself along the particular path of Biomedical Sciences, I was introduced to tattooing by a friend & fellow tattooer named Dave Sinor. After that I constantly found myself easily distracted by tattoos – the more I observed, the more I wanted to learn. And somehow – someway I have managed to experience accomplishment & mild success in this particular medium. So two years later – here I am, and the only time I reference anatomy books is when I m drawing or painting!

Q2: What inspires you?
I am a melange of very different & random elements. Most often I am lucky to be driven by inspiration, other times I have to wrestle it out of me in an attempt to stay disciplined. All art – especially modern tattoo art, kawaii (Japanese Pop Art), and neo-victorian / steampunk styles all find a place in my heart and drive.

Q3: Briefly describe the process of your work (eg. from idea to finished artwork)
My creative process typically runs something like, see random source of inspiration – sketch-sketch-sketch until either the art comes – or I get frustrated and have to take a break! After that the fun & messy parts of lining and painting begin! I must admit after the painting is finished, I am almost equally excited to frame it! You will notice most of my originals are framed in a traditional old school tattoo manner!

Q4: Share an interesting fact about yourself
An interesting and hopefully inspiring fact about myself is that I started drawing and painting roughly a year and a half ago. I do plan on taking an art class at some point this year, I know it could only better me, but my point here is – if you find your passion – stick with it!
