Frequently Asked Questions

Online check-in

  • How do I check in online?
    • Checking in online makes travel quicker and easier. By checking in online, you avoid potential airport fees, time wasted standing in queues and the risk of eventually being denied boarding due to overbooking.

When you check-in online, you get your boarding pass before the flight, so you can head straight to security at the airport. Or, when travelling with checked baggage, you can go to the airline’s baggage drop-off desk.

You can now request all your boarding passes at once, in advance, anytime and for free exclusively on our app. We will then do the check-ins on your behalf when open.

To advance request all your boarding passes at once, just follow these three simple steps:

      1. Download our app for FREE on your phone and login
      2. Select your trip in "My Trips"
      3. Tap the "Request now" button.

If your booking includes flights with multiple airlines, you will receive the boarding passes separately, as each airline opens their check-in at different times.

As many airlines open check-in just 24 hours prior to departure, you will automatically receive your boarding passes shortly after this period. However, if you have allowed a brief processing time and still have not received your boarding pass(es), please get in touch with us. If you are not due to depart in the next 24 hours, we kindly ask you to be patient as boarding pass(es) are usually sent to you within the 24 hours before departure.

While this service covers flights with 665 airlines to over 40,000 destinations, a small percentage of airports, routes and airlines still do not support the requesting of boarding passes in advance or for security reasons the service may not be available. In these cases, you will need to check in at the airport.

  • When will I receive my boarding pass?
    • Many airlines open check-in just 24 hours prior to departure, although some low cost airlines (eg. Vueling, Ryanair, easyJet) may allow online check-in up to 30 days before departure.

If you have requested your boarding passes either via our App or by contacting our agents, you will automatically receive your boarding passes shortly after check-in opens, which is normally 24 hours before departure. However, if you have allowed a brief processing time and still have not received your boarding pass(es), please contact us.

If you are not due to depart in the next 24 hours, we kindly ask you to be patient as boarding pass(es) are usually sent to you within the 24 hours before departure.

If your booking includes flights with multiple airlines, you will receive the boarding passes separately, as each airline opens their check-in at different times.

  • What can I do if the checkin via the app does not work?
    • If you prefer to check-in manually, please contact us once the online check-in of your airline is open (typically from 24 hours until one or two hours prior to departure, although some low-cost airlines may allow you to check in online up to 30 days before departure). You will need your airline booking reference(s), which you will find in your confirmation email or in the My Trips area. It’s possible that your confirmation email may contain more than one airline booking reference, if you are travelling with multiple airlines. A small fee may apply for this service.

  • How early should I be at the airport?
    • For domestic flights you should arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes prior to your departure time.

For international flights it is preferable to arrive 2 - 3 hours before the flight is scheduled to depart.

Please note that there are special security procedures in some airports that may require you to be at the airport earlier. That is the case for departures from cities like Tel Aviv, Bamako, Caracas, Conakry, Dakar, Djibouti, Lagos, Nouakchott or Ouagadougou and for direct flights to the US.

For more specific information, please check your boarding pass. Timetables and meeting places for charter flights will be included in the documentation of the journey.

Payment

  • What can I do if I got a payment error when booking?
    • Have you encountered a error or issue while paying for your booking?

If you clicked on "Purchase" and encountered an error message about payment issues, we suggest that you contact your card issuer to verify what happened. It may be an issue of credit limit or an unexpected charge to your normal spending pattern, that has caused your card issuer to decline the transaction. You should advise them what you are buying, so that they can pre-approve it, and then try again on our site.

If you clicked on "Purchase" but are not sure whether your booking is confirmed, even though you did not get an error or the page confirming your booking request, you can check if the booking exists by using our Manage My Booking system (click below).

If you bought a trip on our website, but your booking has yet to be confirmed and no tickets have been issued because of a payment error, you might have received an email from us containing all the information on how to successfully complete the payment. If you were unable to complete your booking and believe the reason is related to your card, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can help you complete your purchase. Please note, that fares may alter and therefore the price displayed can't be guaranteed until payment has been received and flight tickets have been successfully issued.

  • What are the payment methods?
    • We want to make booking your holiday easy and convenient for you, so we offer many options to pay for your booking.

      Payments with credit/debit card

Charges on your debit/credit card will be completed right away after your purchase. The full amount of the reservation must be paid when confirming your purchase as no instalment payments are accepted.

If you are paying for your booking with a credit or debit card issued outside of your country, take note that your card issuer may apply some extra fees due to your non-local currency transaction.

      Pre-authorisations

Please note that when paying by card, the amount may temporarily appear twice on your account. This is a normal procedure carried out by card issuers - the first is a pre-authorisation and the second is the actual charge. Any duplicate amounts will be returned once the charge has been completed.

Please bear in mind that the time this takes depends on the card issuer and the type of card. If it is taking longer than expected, we recommend that you contact your card issuer.

      Online payments

Some card issuers may block certain transactions made online with credit or debit cards. If you are unable to complete your payment and are getting an error message we strongly recommend you to contact your card issuer to check whether they have placed a temporary restriction on your card.

  • Is it reliable to buy on our website?
    • Shopping online is no longer a new phenomenon. Should you choose to pay by credit card on the site, your card details are encrypted for the transaction - making it more secure than giving your card details over the phone.

We use Secure Socket Layer technology (SSL), which means using your credit card to make a purchase online with LisbonSky should leave you with no safety fears. Security need not be the reason stopping you shopping online.

In order to protect your online transactions further, we have introduced the 'Verified by Visa' and "Matercard Securecode" schemes to our website. Verified by Visa is a service that Visa has developed to validate your online transactions: Martercard Securecode is the equivalant service from Mastercard. If you are signed up to the scheme via your card issuer, during the payment process you will see a pop-up screen asking you to enter your Verified by Visa/Mastercard Securecode password and card details. Simply fill in the form and Visa/Mastercard will validate your details. To find out more about Verified by Visa or Mastercard Securecode, ask your card issuer.

But with LisbonSky, security goes further than protecting your chosen payment details. We're doing everything to ensure that your tickets are with you when we say they will be. We'll always do our best to let you know if any of your flight details change. In fact, we'll help you feel secure throughout your whole travel experience.

  • Tips for being safe while booking

Top tips to protect yourself when booking a holiday online

      • Remember that we will never contact you to ask for your password or login details. If you receive any requests for this information, please report it to us as soon as possible.
      • Password tips:
        • Use a long password
        • Change your password regularly
        • Use numbers, symbols, and capital letters
        • Make sure your password isn’t easy to guess – do not use your name or birthday
      • Be vigilant, watch out for common scams. Familiarise yourself with some of the most common types of fraud, including:
      1. Phishing

Phishing refers to the process of criminals sending fake email, often masquerading as a legitimate organisation, to trick customers into providing confidential information.
      Here’s how phishing works:

      • You will receive what looks like a genuine email from a reputable person or company
      • The email will ask you to click a link for further information
      • You will be asked to download a file or some software which will result in compromising your personal information

      How to avoid phishing:

      • Never provide your personal information in response to an unsolicited request
      • Never click on the link provided in an email if you believe it may be fraudulent
      1. Vishing

Criminals, who use the process of vishing, steal confidential information by contacting consumers on the phone, masquerading as a legitimate organisation.

      Here’s how vishing works:

      • You will receive an unexpected phone call about a situation involving a purchase, a refund, or a payment card
      • You will then be asked to provide personal information

      How to avoid vishing

      • Never give personal information to someone who has contacted you on the phone
      • Be aware that Caller ID can be used to mislead you about who is calling
      1. Fake website

This is an attack on a website that changes the visual appearance of the site or a webpage. Fraudsters will advertise goods or services that don’t exist or aren’t theirs to sell – or they’ll try to mimic existing websites to appear genuine.
      Here’s how Fake website works:

      • Fraudsters will create a fake website that looks real
      • Fraudsters will persuade you to send the payment but the goods you paid for never arrive

      How to Avoid It

      • Use well-known search engines to ensure shopping websites are legitimate. Never follow a link in an unexpected email
      • Never buy anything from a site that doesn’t have ‘https’ at the start of the URL – and look for the icon of a locked padlock too. This indicates that the website is secure
      • Before buying online, do some research into the seller to check they’re genuine, and avoid those with poor ratings. Google provides a service to check URL safety rating. You can find it in: https://transparencyreport.google.com/safe-browsing/search
      • Contact us if you find any suspicious website emulating us

Flight cancellation

  • How can I cancel my flight?
    • In most cases you'll be able to cancel your booking online in "MyTrips", however it won't necessarily lead to a refund.

The amount to be refunded depends on the fare conditions of your tickets, insurance and service contracted. Depending on the fares and conditions of the airline, you may be entitled to a full, partial or no refund. Most budget tickets are generally not refundable.

Some airlines may also apply a cancellation fee, and there are always elements of a booking that are non-refundable. LisbonSky will charge 60€ administration fee per ticket (unless you have selected a Standard or Premium option).

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to MyTrips to request the cancellation of your booking.

      Manage my booking

On some occasions, and depending on the carrier you are travelling with, you might have to contact the airline to request the cancellation. In these cases, we will let you know what you can do.

If your ticket has Free Cancellation period or you have purchased the 'Cancel for Any Reason', you can cancel directly by clicking 'Cancel Now':

      Already checked in?

How can I cancel my booking if I’m already checked in?

There are some things we can’t do if you’re already checked in.

If you want to cancel your trip, you’ll have to cancel the check-in directly with the airline and then return to My Trips to proceed with the cancellation.

  • How to make a travel insurance claim?
    • If you have purchased a travel insurance and wish to make a claim, you should contact the insurance company as soon as you are aware of any incident or problem. The insurance company will validate that you are covered, open the claim and explain what you need to do next. This is very important if the claim relates to a medical emergency, as the insurance company may have specific instructions, depending on the circumstances. You can find all details within your confirmation email or in the "Manage my booking section" by clicking below.

We recommend you save all relevant documentation (booking confirmation, a proof of your cancelled flight, policy reference number, invoices and receipts, medical certificates, police reports etc.) before submitting your claim to the insurance company.

If you wish to submit your claim, you can access your booking in order to find the insurance contact details.

The Cancellation Policy refers to an excess of 10% or 20% of the trip cost depending on cause – which bracket does COVID-19 fall into?

What documentation is required as proof for cancelling due to COVID-19?

Depending on the reason why you are forced to cancel your booking, the insurance company may require you to provide, among others, one of the following documents:

      • COVID-19 test results (PCR)

Flight

  • Where is my flight email confirmation?
    • Flight confirmation emails are sent directly by the airline or travel partner you booked with.* If you have recently purchased a ticket and have not received your email confirmation yet, it is because the airline is still processing it. Some airlines, such as American Airlines, take up to 4 hours to send the email confirmation. Call the airline's reservation department directly if you still have not received your confirmation after 4 hours.

You can also look up your flight on the airline's website using your confirmation code.

      Alaska Airlines: https://www.alaskaair.com/booking/reservation-lookup

      American Airlines: https://www.aa.com/reservation/view/find-your-reservation

      Delta: https://www.delta.com/my-trips/search

      Frontier: https://www.flyfrontier.com/travel/my-trips/

      JetBlue: https://www.jetblue.com/manage-trips

      Spirit: https://www.spirit.com/my-trips/find-trip

      United: https://www.united.com/en/us/manageres/mytrips

If you are still missing your confirmation email, then you can do the following:

Make sure your purchase actually went through. Check your credit card/bank statement to see if there is a charge. Check to make sure the confirmation email didn't end up in your spam/junk folder. Call the airline or merchant listed next to your charge and ask about the status of your ticket. For 3rd-party booking travel sites, you will want to call right away to make sure no extra verification is needed to process your transaction. Check other email accounts to see if you used a different email address from the one you normally use. Also, if you are traveling with another passenger, check with them in case you used their email instead of your own. ) If none of those worked above, please send us an email at support@lisbonsky.com with as many details as possible including your name, the passenger name(s) (if different from yours), the email used to book, the last 4 digits of the card, and a screenshot showing the charge. The more information you can provide to us, the better we can assist you with tracking down your flight information.
  • Can I track the price of a specific flight?
    • On the website, you may track using the below toggle. You must be logged in to track on the website. Tracked searches will appear on your homepage when logged in. You will receive an email notification when the price drops.
  • Can I cancel or change a flight?
    • To cancel or change your flight, you will need to check your confirmation email. Contact information for the airline or 3rd-party travel company you are booked with will be listed there (phone number and/or website link).
    • For flights booked directly with the airline, there will be an airline link to manage your booking online and a phone number that you can call the airline if you need to cancel or change. For flights booked via our booking partner on our website, you have 2 options for canceling your flight. If you see a red “Cancel Booking” button and it is still within 24 hours of purchase, you can cancel your booking by clicking that button. Make sure you check that you received a cancellation email afterward which will confirm it was successful. OR If you are outside the 24-hour window or the cancel button is not working, you can call the phone number listed in that same confirmation email to hear your options. (*Keep in mind that any cancellations or changes will depend on the airline you booked with and their policy.) If you have already canceled the flight, you can send us a message with the confirmation code and we can refund the LisbonSky service fee if you were charged one. For flights where you were linked outside of LisbonSky's website to complete your purchase, you will need to contact that airline or online travel agency with your request. Contact information and cancellation instructions for that online travel agency will be listed in your confirmation email.
  • How do I add my TSA Known Traveler Number (KTN) to my booking?

As a result, LisbonSky only shows flights where your destination is in the primary legs. This is also why we have you book departure and return flights separately when utilizing hidden-city. If you booked as a roundtrip itinerary and utilized hidden-city on the departure flight, your return ticket would be canceled..

Health and Travel Documents

  • What travel documents do I need to travel?
    • When travelling outside your own country, you may need a passport valid for at least the duration of the trip, although many countries also require you to have at least 6 months, from the date of entry, before your passport expires. To make sure which conditions apply, you need to contact the embassy of the country you are travelling to.

It is the passenger's sole responsibility to comply with all legal requirements to depart the country or enter into a third country and ensure that they have all of the relevant documents.

Have you renewed your passport since you made your reservation?

If your passport number has changed recently and you are taking an international flight, please contact us so we can update your booking details with the correct information.

For further information, visit your local authority's website regarding passports' policies.

  • What documents do I need to travel to the USA or Canada?
    • Please remember that, depending on your nationality, you may need a visa or travel authorisation. If you already have this, then please also make sure that your passport information is up to date and has at least 6 months before it expires, as many countries require this.

Some citizens may not need a visa, but they must complete a travel authorisation form, called an ESTA for the United States or an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for Canada.

Check online if you require travel authorisation for the United States or Canada.

  • What vaccines are required for travel?
    • You don't always need vaccinations to travel abroad. If you do, the recommended vaccinations will vary depending on many factors such as the country (or even the region of the country) that you are visiting, the season of the year, the length of your trip or your own age and health condition. That is why it is strongly recommended that you consult the specific health requirements for your destination. To do so, please contact your local health authorities.
