Summer Brights at Etsy

This morning I was excited to find out that my new orange polkadot hair accessories have been included in a fun ‘Summer Brights’ Etsy treasury by PinkGlitterBoutique! (see red box)

… And what a gorgeous treasury it is! I LOOOVE the hot pinks and bright citrus tones. What a cheery way to start the Summer season – for all those lucky ducks in the US, Canada, Europe etc  :-)

Shiny sparkly things ahead at LisbonSky

Who loooves sparkly, shiny things?… I do!
It was love at first sight when I saw some gorgeous crystal briolettes beads at my local bead shop! The vibrant sparkle & rich jewel tones caught my eye and they formed the perfect palatte for my next range.

By mixing two complimenting colors together and then adding silver-plated bali spacer beads – the crystal briolette bracelet sets makes quite a statement (see above). I’m also really loving the glam layered jewelry look right now (as sported by young Hollywood starlets stacking chunky bangles on their arms À la Rachel Zoe). So for added drama & bling – try stacking these crystals bracelets with your other bangles/bracelets.

Featured on the Etsy front page!

Today I received some GREAT news! One of my new Etsy listings – a silver-plated alphabet initial necklace – was picked and featured on their front page! I’m amazed and honored as it’s my first front page feature – yay!!

That’s me in the right bottom corner – highlighted in the red box.

Personally I love my “M” necklace and I think I’ve worn it to death! One of the best things about it is, its simplicity and versatility. It suits everyday casual clothes and when I want a more funky look – I layer it with other longer chain necklaces or beads.

Australia’s Got Talent!

Hi everyone!
My next blog post is a little different and totally random but I just had to share it with you. It all started with a little Australian reality TV show called “Australia’s Got Talent”. I’m not usually a fan of reality TV – especially talent shows where the majority of the ‘talent’ aren’t so talented (and next thing you know, the TV producers turn them into the butt of jokes for the whole nation). However, one talent performance really caught my eye on the show and they are soooo entertaining to watch! …I really hope they win!

The dynamic duo (calling themselves “Jak in the Box”) consists of two college friends beat-boxing to replicate the sounds of iconic Australian musical instruments and wildlife. They are amazing – but see for yourself.

New April Giveaway: Gorgeous ACEO prints!

FORBIRDS ACEOS GIVEAWAY:  ‘BLOSSOMING’ + ‘REMUS’

Launched at the end of 2009, Forbirds are a relatively new shop on Etsy but they have already won me over with their gorgeous and distinctive style… which has a classic old-world feel to it! The shop itself offers a unique range of art originals, art prints, ACEO originals and ACEO prints – all created with various techniques… some are painted digitally and some are traditional works with collage, watercolors, inks and different materials.

Forbirds was originally started by Jean, but soon became a collaborative effort of Jean and Teagan – close friends and students at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Jean (from Alaska) specializes in digital painting, photography and multi-media art, while Teagan (from Chicago) specializes in illustration, design, bookmaking and papermaking. Individual work by both artists are available, as well as art pieces they work on together, combining Jean’s expertise with color, texture, and media with Teagan’s illustrations and bookbinding techniques.

Brave the chop: Top celebrity hair

Are you looking for a new chic hairstyle to kick off the new decade?
… I know I am! I’m so bored of putting my mid-length hair in ponytail (daily) that I’ve decided it’s time for a change. This month I’m going to brave the chop, as inspired by the gorgeous celeb cuts above.

Of course, pulling off these looks can be a bit tricky – especially as we mere mortals aren’t drop-dead Hollywood beauties, equipped with a team of stylists at our beck and call. However, we can learn a thing or two about style or being a bit adventurous with our new do. Right now I’m really into asymmetrical choppy cuts a la Rihanna.
